One-to-one sessions

I offer a warm, inclusive and non-judgemental, trauma-informed approach. I am based in private, comfortable surroundings on The High Street in Tunbridge Wells.

Everyone comes to therapeutic work for different reasons. I aim to meet you where you are, and together we can explore and co-create ways for you to connect to your in-built capacity for healing and growth.

Honouring the powerful 2-way connections between mind and body, and the importance of nervous system regulation to find a sense of safety and calm, we can find ways to work together that suit you and the personal reasons you are seeking support.

Psychotherapy

My practice is rooted on strong psychodynamic foundations, but with further trainings in EMDR and specialist trauma-informed practices, grounded in neuroscience and research. This means I believe that our story and our experiences through life have a strong influence on the people we are today; our patterns of thinking and behaving, how we feel (emotionally and physically), and our relationships with others and with ourselves.

Through taking time to understand these dynamics better, reflecting on and processing any difficult memories within a safe therapeutic relationship, this can enable us to feel more at ease and live our lives more fully.

After 15 years’ experience of adapting to individual’s needs and integrating a range of different approaches, we can also blend more traditional talking therapy with body and breath-based practices, if desired and considered appropriate.

Yoga Therapy

A holistic way of working with mind, body and spirit, using the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship. Although all yoga as a practice can be therapeutic and healing, yoga therapy considers your specific, individual physical, mental, and emotional needs.

As a yoga therapist, alongside my original physiotherapy and psychotherapy qualifications, I have in-depth training to enable me to explore and assess these needs with you. I can work with you to address your specific goals, while considering any limitations you might be experiencing. This can be for physical, emotional, or blended conditions – I find there are very few struggles that are either completely in our mind or completely in our body!

I have completed the full contact hours, written/ clinical assessments and exams for my yoga therapy training. However, whilst completing three case studies to obtain my final qualification, I am currently qualified from The Minded Institute to practice Yoga Therapy as a Student Practitioner.

Areas of special interest

Over the years I have worked extensively with different types of trauma, including developmental and childhood trauma, PTSD, bullying, boarding school trauma, transgenerational trauma, sexual trauma, domestic violence, birth trauma, complex trauma.

I have in depth experience of working therapeutically with adolescents and their families in the education sector, and particularly in supporting young people with managing anxiety, exam stress, and the challenges of teenage life through counselling, mindfulness, movement and breath practices.

Having experienced my own post-natal difficulties and having completed a training in pregnancy and postnatal yoga, I am keen to support and empower women in their journey through conception, pregnancy, birth and motherhood.

With my own children now in their twenties, I can understand something of parenting through the different developmental stages. In my school counselling role, I have worked alongside numerous parents and carers whose young people are struggling in different ways with their mental health. I often refer to the importance of ‘fitting your own oxygen mask first’ and believe strongly that parents feeling supported with their own needs, whilst they care for their young person, is essential.

Well-being support for schools, charities, and other organisations

I have worked extensively in both state and independent education sectors, and with other organisations, delivering a variety of yoga, mindfulness, and mental health training for students, staff, parents, and other employees. These can be as one-off workshops/ INSET/ talks, or as a course or regular class.

If you are interested in working together drop me an email, or complete the contact form, and we can discuss co-creating a package that is tailored specifically to your organisation and your particular needs.
